The Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement (SBP) supplies services to the public and other ministries that support efforts to build the economy and make life better for all Saskatchewan people.
The Priority Saskatchewan and Stakeholder Relations branch has a focus of ensuring proactive engagement with industry and relevant areas of our ministry and others within the Government of Saskatchewan (GOS) on various procurement and procurement-related topics to continue expanding Saskatchewan capacity and supply chain resilience.
The Opportunity
The Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement is seeking a collaborative leader who understands the importance of relationships with industry and businesses as well as various procurement experts and others across the Government of Saskatchewan. This opportunity is for one (1) permanent position.
As Director, you will:
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders including local suppliers, labour groups, business associations, Crown corporations, MASH (municipalities, academic institutions, schools, and hospitals) sector representatives, and Indigenous communities and enterprises;
- Lead senior-level collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including: client ministries, Crown corporations, public sector agencies, the MASH sector, local suppliers, business associations, Indigenous audiences and labour representatives;
- Enhance procurement and project outcomes through stakeholder engagement and strategic planning;
- Develop strategies to support local supplier growth and broaden economic opportunities;
- Analyze and manage ongoing and completed procurement opportunities – particularly Out-of-Province awards – to identify supplier development, supply chain enhancement, and procurement efficiency;
- Inform SBP senior leadership, Cabinet and partner stakeholders of lessons learned from economic development opportunities, supplier successes, and vendor community challenges;
- Manage stakeholder engagement including summarizing partner input, evaluating expectations, providing feedback, and balancing stakeholder interest through go-forward plans;
- Meet with specific stakeholders and/or industry associations in responding to specific procurement or supply chain related opportunities or challenges.
- Research and report on global, regional and national economic and market condition impacts on local supply chains and SBP/GOS ability to achieve Growth Plan goals; and
- Lead a high-performing team focused on stakeholder partnerships, supply chain resilience, and economic growth.
Ideal Candidate
To be successful in the role, the ideal candidate will possess:
- Stakeholder management skills to support and enhance provincial supplier capacity and resilience;
- A collaborative and results-driven attitude, with a strong focus on business relationship management;
- Proven ability to deliver innovative solutions in fast-paced, dynamic environments; and
- Expertise in identifying and analyzing complex problems.
Typically, the knowledge required for this position would be obtained through:
- 5 years of experience in the field of competitive intelligence, economic development, or related areas.
- Education in the field of business and/or economic development would be considered an asset.
- An equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered.
Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
