About the role

Job Description We are currently seeking a Senior Manager, Business Solutions to join our team. Under VP direction, the Senior Manager, Business Solutions is accountable for analytical, consultative and managerial expertise to First West’ business units, supporting the integration of business processes with technology systems. This role leads a Business Solutions team and contributes directly to project execution. Through effective cross-functional collaboration, the Senior Manager leads system integration at both functional and operational levels. This role plays a key leadership role within IT, actively shaping short- and long-term planning.

We are open to filling this role across Canada, however, please note preference will be given to those that are located in BC due to the proximity of our office locations. To be considered for this role, when applying, you must be eligible to work in Canada. Here’s what would be included as a part of your typical day

  • Leadership: Provides leadership to the Business Solutions team, executing technology implementation projects. Leads, coaches, engages and mentors the team, including supporting professional development and overseeing performance management activities.
  • Project Management: Works with IT VPs to prioritize projects and manage progress. Leads cross-functional projects within IT and across departments when needed, ensuring strong collaboration among stakeholders. Facilitates end-to-end project delivery, including requirements gathering, configuration, development, testing, deployment and hyper care support.
  • Business Analysis (BA): Consults and collaborates with project stakeholders and process owners to identify business needs and assists with the development of IT work request documentation as required. Educates stakeholders regarding system capabilities and possibilities for integrated IT business solutions. Acts as senior-level Business Analyst within IT and elsewhere as required. Investigates and diagnoses problems from both business and IT perspectives; recommends or implements solutions. Works collaboratively with IT resources and project resources to develop and deliver technology solutions.
  • Business Systems Management: Manages the business implementation and optimization of mission-critical and second tier systems, including needs identification, deployment, and recommendation for enhancements, training needs, system support, and ongoing maintenance. Builds and maintains strategic relationships with external partners and vendors to deliver solutions and proactively manage issues. Provides operational ownership for select systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory updates. Supports internal and external auditors by supplying relevant information and guidance.

Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or relevant degree required
  • Related designation or certification preferred
  • 8 years of related IT experience in a business systems analysis function or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • 4+ years of experience in a people leadership, including change management and leading organization-wide systems initiatives from IT perspective.
  • Proven ability to build strong stakeholder relationships to effectively interpret business needs
  • Thrives in collaborative, fast-paced IT environments
  • Manages deliverables with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Highly developed research, analytical, and problem-solving skills to lead complex business solutions development
  • Expertise in project management and prioritization methodologies and principles, to effectively lead projects and manage stakeholder expectations throughout the life of each project.
  • Deep cross-functional knowledge of business operations
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills to influence and lead teams and facilitate stakeholder consensus
  • Strong ability to deliver high-quality results with strong attention to detail and accountability
  • Advanced knowledge in Software Development Life Cycle
  • Advanced knowledge of the concepts, theories, practices and techniques of the information technology field, with emphasis on business systems analysis
  • Advanced technical knowledge and skills to provide expertise to business systems analysis, and understand the relevant programming language, products and tools
  • Demonstrated effective use of AI based tools eg Copilot
  • Displays an understanding of risk and risk ownership by being able to demonstrate adherence to policies and procedures.
