About the role
Boardwalk Optical Boutique opened in 1979 to fill a need for quality eyeglasses in the Cambridge area, and we now serve the wider Tri-City area, from Cambridge to Waterloo. Our boutique has an extensive collection of designer eyeglasses, prescription lenses, sunglasses, contact lenses, and many other products to serve the vision needs of people of all ages.
We are seeking a Optician to join our team on a part-time (3-4 days per week) basis.
You should be capable and confident in your opticianry, sales, administration, and customer service abilities. You enjoy working in a team-oriented environment and eager to learn more. We're looking for individuals who are passionate about eye care in Ontario.
Some of your duties will include:
- Leading the dispensing operation with responsibility for frame boards, glasses fittings, adjustments, repairs, and dispensing as per specifications or prescription
- Managing the overall sales process, business performance, and developing new processes to maintain high levels of customer service
- Assisting with pre-testing for Optometrist appointments
- Scheduling appointments and follow ups as needed
- Advising and fitting contact lenses
- Troubleshooting issues related to their glasses and visual comfort/functioning
- Assisting with insurance/OHIP billing
- Tracking and verifying all lab jobs
- Other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Licensed Optician in Ontario. CCOA certification will be considered as well.
- Demonstrated experience leading an optical dispensing operation
- A professional, honest, and fun-loving positive attitude with a strong passion for delivering high quality customer service and achieving goals and targets
- Highly knowledgeable with eyewear and lens products and technologies
- Experience in insurance billing
- Experience with board and inventory management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Interest and knowledge in current eyewear trends and a good eye for fashion
