What You’ll Do:
- Maintain R&D laboratory, equipment, raw material inventory and sampling supplies
- Prepare innovative prototypes and organize internal evaluations
- Responsible for organizing daily product evaluation sample preparation and facilities according to SOPs
- Organize small to large scale sensory evaluations and analyze collected data
- Collect data on competitor market samples and maintain accurate database of results
- Participate in PD project meetings with Marketing, Sales. Retail Management and Consumer Care
- Record detailed and accurate formulas and notes
- Accurately input nutritional and ingredient information into Genesis R&D software
- Create and maintain databases of product specifications, labels, production documents, etc.
- Participate in trial production runs
What You Need to Get the Job Done:
- You have a Bachelors or Masters Degree in Food Science or Culinary Arts
- Relevant experience in R&D/Product Development or Culinary in the food industry would be preferred
- Knowledge in dairy and/or frozen food processing and advanced understanding of food systems, ingredients, and process interactions
- Results oriented team member who is highly organized with a strong focus on detail and accuracy
- Aptitude for solving technical challenges through systematic research and investigation
- Multi-tasking and prioritization abilities
- Excel at building and maintaining positive working relationships with internal and external contacts
- High level of computer skills, with practical experience using Genesis software considered a strong asset
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information

Although the company has grown tremendously from its early days, it remains headquartered in the small lakeside Canadian town of Bobcaygeon where it was founded.
Today Kawartha Dairy operates 13 retail stores and services a wide range of customers, from grocery stores to food service establishments and of course, ice cream parlours. Fresh milk and fresh cream is received daily from local farms and the rich and creamy milk and ice cream are still made the traditional way.
