Location: Markham, ON - Hybrid
An opening exists in the School Markets Division for the position of New Business Acquisition Representative reporting to the Supervisor, Strategic Partnerships.
Work Location: This position is based out of our Markham location at 175 Hillmount Road. Our team is currently working on a flexible hybrid basis, working out of the office as needed.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct a high volume of phone outreach, meeting daily outbound call volume and talk time, engaging in meaningful sales conversations with schools that do not have active partnerships with Scholastic, establishing updated contacts, new partnerships and facilitating new account creation within the corporate database.
- Attain seasonal and annual targets for new business acquisition, ensuring consistent lead qualification criteria are met by prospective and new customers.
- Maintain detailed documentation of sales conversations and customer touch points within Salesforce.
- Once bookings are secured, conduct a warm referral to the territory Book Fair Consultant or Book Club Customer Service for confirmation and planning support.
- Continually develop deep knowledge of all Scholastic business channels, associated challenges and opportunities, and provide feedback and insights for future customer incentives and offers.
- Represents Scholastic in-person at various meetings and conferences as required.
- In collaboration with the Systems Database Administrator, ensure accuracy with current customer and account information as well as sales / service records (including CASL compliancy).
- Effectively handle objections using defined processes and support materials.
- Actively participate in Coaching Program, with the intention of ongoing learning and skill development.
- Participates in virtual or in person weekly sales meetings and bi-annual sales conferences and other meetings as required.
- Other duties/special projects as requested.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma or equivalent.
- 2-5 years inside sales or coordinator experience.
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
- This role requires a motivated, results-driven sales professional with exceptional communication skills.
- Must be willing to travel within defined areas.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours based on business needs and time zone of prospect schools.
- Intermediate knowledge Microsoft Office programs.
- Entry level knowledge of Salesforce or other CRM software.
