About the role

Position Summary:

Under the Con Freight Corporation’s CVOR, Operators/Drivers will transport Con-Cast Pipe Inc. (CCP) and Hy-Grade Precast Concrete Products Inc. (HG) precast products to our customer sites safely and on schedule as defined by the Company and relevant legislation. The Operator/Driver will ensure that the prescribed customer service commitments and targets are achieved, while always protecting the integrity and security of the customer’s product and the Company’s equipment.

Specific Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

The Operator/Driver responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

• Pick up, transport, and deliver goods in compliance with all Company and MTO legislative requirements.

• Ensure the delivery of customer products at the designated time, date and place with all delivery documents required.

• Conduct all Pre-Trip and regular inspections of product, truck and trailer assigned for shipment, immediately reporting any identified safety infractions to Logistics Department.

• Correctly and adequately secure load in advance of, and as necessary during, transport

• Communicate with the Logistics department to ensure on time pick-up and delivery schedules.

• Complete all documentation (i.e. Bill of Lading, RMAs, Logbook, etc.) as required, and provide all documentation to the assigned parties in a timely manner.

• Support the Company brand and image by maintaining a professional appearance and acting in a courteous manner with customers and staff.

• Follow safe work practices, including bending, lifting, and carrying procedures, slip and fall prevention and the proper use of PPE equipment provided.

• Maintain a clean and up to date personal and professional license (AZ and G). Provide current abstract(s) on a quarterly basis, and at any time the status changes.

• Immediately and completely report any driver safety and compliance concerns and/or infractions related to both AZ and G licenses, to minimize any risk to the Con Freight Inc’s (Con Freight Corporation) CVOR standing.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Minimum 3 years of professional transport driver/operator experience

• Must possess and maintain a valid AZ license in good standing.

• 0–8-ton boom truck certification is an asset (Company training & certification provided)

• Must provide a current CVOR and drivers abstract initially, and updated copies at the frequency required by the Company.

• A focused customer satisfaction approach in dealing with internal and external stakeholders.

• Excellent personal organizational skills and professional attention to detail regarding all aspects of professional driver responsibilities

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Free of any criminal record, verified by Criminal Record Search

• Boom Ticket would be an asset but may be trained

Working Conditions:

• Delivery schedules from 4 am through 7 pm starting and finishing at an assigned location with occasional exceptions.

• Physical activities will consist of prolonged periods of sitting in or driving a truck, climbing up and down trailers and chaining and strapping down product loaded on trailers.

• Subject to all seasonal elements

• Seasonal road conditions and congestion
