Job Summary

Dalhousie Financial Services strives to provide the highest quality financial services and information to ensure the effective stewardship of University assets to the benefit of students and scholarly activities. Financial Services is a core service unit of the University, providing services in areas of financial accounting, budgeting, procurement, payroll, cash management, and financial systems and policies. Reporting to the Treasurer, the Cashier is responsible for processing all deposits and other daily banking transactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receives all deposits that are dropped off by departments and Dal Security, checks and reconciles all deposits submitted for accuracy.

  • Prepares deposits of cash and coin for pick up, and liaises with secure transport provider to coordinate pick up of deposits.

  • Enters cheques into the bank via remote deposit capture, and tracks all deposits to ensure accuracy within the bank.

  • Responsible to look up and respond to bank queries from Financial Services and other departments.

Note

Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.

Required Qualifications

  • Business/Administrative Professional program with three to five years’ experience in a business environment (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).

  • Experience working in cash management or banking.

  • Proficient computer skills (MS Office, Word, and Excel).

  • Good attention to detail.

  • Strong interpersonal, multi-tasking and organizational skills are essential as well as the ability to work independently.
