About this role: Reporting directly to the Director, Data Management, Analytics & BI, Business Intelligence Co-op Student will work closely with other team members to provide analysis, create reports and prepare recommendations for Family Insurance’s internal BI portal. Your daily activities will include identifying operational trends, analyzing data, and maintaining Family’s BI assets. You enjoy the challenge of creating a highly effective data visualization tool to drive business decisions

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Monitor and assess BI tickets on an ongoing basis.
  • Create business segmentation and analysis for Family's Insurance’s operations (e.g., by risk type, geographical attributes, and business channels) to identify business trends, anomalies and opportunities to enhance growth and profitability.
  • Develop and analyze financial assumptions used to measure business targets and goals by using various insurance and mathematical concepts (e.g., regression analysis).
  • Maintain data tables and assets in BI databases and in all other database environments, e.g., MIS, Development, and Quality Assurance.
  • Provide rating analysis support for all system projects involving changes to Family's proprietary rating engine, its business rules, and/or data tables; as well as supporting the programming, testing and implementation of Family's strategic rating.

What You Bring

  • Knowledge of any dashboard development tool (Tableau preferred).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to assist the organization in improving performance and productivity
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and visual design skills.
  • Experience in Data Visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Excel and Microsoft SSRS.
  • Ability to take initiative, set deadlines and manage projects to a timely and successful conclusion.
  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Adaptable and able to manage change in a fast-paced and fluid environment
  • Team player who is professional, friendly and courteous in all interactions, whether with customers or co-workers.

The hourly compensation for the role starts at $22/h and will increase based on factors including but not limited to, skills, education, experience, and the recommended rates as set by the respective educational institution.
