Job Summary
In collaboration with the Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician performs a variety of clerical, pharmaceutical and other general duties in the Pharmacy and other areas. Functions include, sterile and non-sterile preparations, unit dose pre-packaging and drug distribution, narcotic issue, purchasing and receiving supplies, dispensing first dose unit doses, bin filling unit doses, refilling of automated dispensing cabinets, and extemporaneous preparations. Travel to offsite units, known as the RCU, to provide Omnicell refill and patient specific doses.
Qualifications
- Licensed by OCP, education obtained from an accredited Pharmacy technician program (CCAPP accredited = Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs).
- Demonstrated computer skills
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills, communication and teamwork
- Demonstrated knowledge of pharmaceutical arithmetic, pharmaceutical terminology
- Demonstrated excellence in communication, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated problem assessment skills
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service and teamwork
- Demonstrated individual leadership skills
- Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
