Job Description:
The Legal and Compliance Analyst will assist the General Counsel and legal team with various legal and regulatory requirements, providing support for the Canadian AXA XL insurance, reinsurance and intermediary entities. This includes working with colleagues across regional offices and globally, interacting directly with local staff including underwriters. The role is based in Toronto, reporting to the General Counsel.
What****you’ll be doing
What will your essential responsibilities include?
- Assisting in preparing regulatory and corporate filings and applications.
- Assisting in preparing Legal and Compliance reports.
- Maintaining template contractual documentation for use by the business.
- Maintaining executed contractual documentation.
- Assisting in the preparation of responses to and coordination of requests from various regulatory bodies.
- Assisting with board or management committee meetings, preparing board packs, minutes and filings as required.
- Assisting in ensuring an effective governance program is in place including maintaining a regulatory compliance management system.
- Assisting in formulating and implementing local compliance policies and procedures and overseeing compliance with local policies, group Code of Conduct.
- Assisting with regulatory requirements, maintenance of license conditions and performing research on a variety of legal and regulatory topics.
- Providing such support as is necessary to the local legal and compliance team, including a wide variety of administrative and supportive tasks.
You will report to the Head of Legal, Insurance and Reinsurance, Canada.
What****you’ll bring
We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree and some to moderate relevant experience preferably in insurance and reinsurance; or within the financial sector.
- Excellent understanding of Canadian regulatory environment and requirements.
- Experience in compliance areas.
- Highly driven self-starter, with a robust desire to challenge and deliver.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, collaboration, presentation and influencing skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent attention to details and a meticulous eye for identifying inconsistencies and inaccuracies.
- Competent user of Microsoft software, in particular Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
- Ability to take ownership of work, whilst working effectively within a team.
- Proven organizational and problem-solving skills, prioritization and time management skills with accurate results.
- High dedication to the business clients and legal and compliance team evidencing professionalism even in high pressure situations.
