About the role
Position Summary:
Manage fixed assets to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards including recording monthly journal entries, reconciliations, and capex reports.
Position Responsibilities:
- Update the fixed asset management sub-ledger for all new additions, retirements and depreciation by company or business unit.
- Update capex reports for fixed asset additions, transfers to/from WIP, retirements, and disposals by department
- Ensure accurate calculation and recording of depreciation.
- Support invoice coding for capex additions from accounts payable.
- Assist with regular reconciliation between the general ledger and the asset management sub-ledger.
- Assist with annual transponder inventory count and resolve difference.
- Assist with audit schedules and documentation.
- Collaborate with departments to ensure proper asset classification.
- Assist with monthly and quarterly fixed assets variance analysis to support accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare routine and ad-hoc reports and analysis in a timely manner to all queries from manager.
- Prepare monthly accrual journal entries for corporate purchasing credit card program
- Prepare monthly prepaid entries for operating entity and maintain prepaid schedule including additions, write offs and amortization and schedule for AP holdbacks.
- Assist with preparation of supporting schedules for HST filing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and/or Finance/Accounting Designation (or equivalent work experience) preferred (minimum 3 years working experience).
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills in a team setting
- Commitment to personal growth and development.
- Must be pro-active and have a positive attitude.
- Good organization and leadership skills.
- In depth understanding of MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
- Experience with PeopleSoft accounting software would be an asset.
