Description Temporary Labourer (Roads)

Job S tatus: Temporary Full-Time for approximately 8 months

Pay & Grade: $ 25.32 Hourly Grade/Band : NA

Hours of Work : 40 Hours per week

Initial location: Kitchener Operations Facility

Posting period: March 18 to December 19, 2025 ( at 6:00pm)

Overview The City of Kitchener is seeking candidates to fill temporary labourer positions in the Roads and Traffic division.

Responsibilities

  • Asphalt-related repairs and maintenance of roads.
  • Concrete related repairs and maintenance of sidewalks, curbs, catch basins, and manholes.
  • Maintaining waste receptacles, cleaning up garbage and debris from streets, sidewalks and alleys in the Downtown core, as well as on City & Regional roadways, city-owned property, bush & dense bush areas and parkland.
  • Winter work includes snow plowing and salting.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid MTO DZ class driver's license in good standing and ability to provide Drivers Abstract at your own expense as a condition of employment.
  • Good communication skills with an ability to keep accurate written records.
  • Able to perform a wide variety of duties including manual labour and be prepared to be trained in the operation of all related equipment and work skills.
  • Must have good customer service skills.
  • Ability to participate as an effective team member.
  • Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
