About the role

JOB SUMMARY

A project coordinator, in consult and under supervision of the senior project coordinator or contract salesperson, follows through on managing all aspects of the project delivery such as corresponding with contractor, resolving issues, scheduling shipments and install, etc.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties

  • Manage on-time project delivery in accordance with the project schedule and contractor requirements, being mindful of lead times for ordering and fabricating
  • Schedule and outsource shipment and installation of projects as required
  • Proficient in knowledge and use of software in order to create sales orders and purchase orders, including but not limited to Microsoft Dynamics NAV
  • Process change orders, troubleshooting product issues, trace shipments, and deal with other project matters as directed by the salesperson
  • Proficient in knowledge and use of software in order to create shop drawings, including but not limited to Avaware and AutoCAD
  • Possesses an extensive knowledge of products, including but not limited to hollow metal, hardware and wood doors, in order to estimate, detail, purchase or troubleshoot for projects
  • May include estimating or detailing as required
  • May include purchasing for the project as required
  • May include site visits

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Hardware product knowledge and experience required

  • Knowledge of building code requirements pertaining to life safety, security and electronics

  • Ability to interpret architectural drawings

  • Cost and project management

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Flexible and self-motivated

  • Goal and result oriented

  • High level of commitment and accountability to get the job done

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Sound understanding of the hardware, door and building construction industry

  • Strong mathematical aptitude

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Extensive company training provided

  • Project Management or Architectural Engineering certificate or 2-3 years’ related experience

  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and AutoCAD

  • Project coordinators are encouraged to further their knowledge base through DHI courses, local hardware chapters, and company training.
