Food Service Team Member
About the role
Position Overview:
The Food Service team member is a versatile team member responsible for both kitchen support and dining room service in a retirement home setting. This role ensures that residents receive nutritious, well-prepared meals in a timely and friendly manner while maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming dining environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Dining Room Service:

Greet residents warmly.

Take meal orders accurately and communicate them to the kitchen staff.

Serve meals and beverages promptly, ensuring residents’ dietary restrictions are observed.

Clear tables after meals, clean and reset dining areas.

Engage with residents in a friendly and patient manner, addressing their requests or concerns.

Maintain a positive dining atmosphere to enhance the residents’ overall dining experience.
· Be knowledgeable of and practice residence's fire and safety programs.
Kitchen Support:

Assist cooks with food preparation.

Prepare simple dishes like salads, sandwiches, or beverages as needed.

Maintain kitchen cleanliness by washing dishes, utensils, and cookware.

Ensure that food storage areas are organized, and supplies are properly stocked.

Follow all health and safety guidelines to ensure food is prepared in a clean environment.
Job Description: Risk Management and General Safety
· Partners with community team to ensure community is in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements and promotion of Risk Management programs and/or policies; adherence to safety rules and regulations.
· Practices safety procedures at all times including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), fire safety procedures including extinguishers (as applicable), SDSs (Safety Data Sheets) and Lockout Tagout procedures.
· Reports all accidents/incidents immediately.
· Reports all unsafe and hazardous conditions/equipment immediately.
· Complies with all infection control procedures
· Participates in Fire Safety and Mock Disaster procedures.
Skills & Qualifications:

Experience in food service, hospitality, or a similar role is preferred.

Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen sanitation practices.

Ability to multitask and work efficiently in both kitchen and dining room settings.

Flexibility to work varying shifts, including mornings, weekends, or holidays.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.20 per hour
