About the role
BCIT’s School of Business + Media is seeking two (2) temporary, part-time (0.2 FTE**) Faculty, Digital Arts, Media and Design**.
The Digital Arts, Media and Design department within the School of Business + Media offers a range of programs in the areas of Communication and Graphics, Web and Mobile, and Animation and Gaming. We are currently seeking temporary, part-time instructors for newly created positions in our one-year Bachelor of Creative Industries launching in September 2025. The Bachelor of Creative Industries (BCI) program’s aim is to prepare students with knowledge and applied skills in three core areas: creativity, technology, and business.
Designed for those ready to tackle complex challenges, this program equips students with the skills and vision to drive meaningful change. Industry experts guide students through advanced research and production tactics, demystifying current industry processes and helping them forecast future trends across creative sectors.
The successful applicants will be enthusiastic leaders with practical and applied knowledge as creative technology professionals, with demonstrated entrepreneurship and management skills. We are seeking individuals who are committed to quality and innovation in meeting our students’ needs and who value the importance of teamwork in the workplace.
Courses include:

- CREA 7030 Intercultural and Interdisciplinary Communication in Creative Industries

DUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES**:**
The hiring committee is seeking an industry expert with a passion for teaching and learning and strong commitment to ensuring students develop applied skills and specialized knowledge. Applicants should have a minimum 5 years of senior leadership experience in a Senior Manager, Director or equivalent-level role and 10 years of relevant and current industry-level professional experience in Digital Design, Engineering, Production, Creative Direction, or similar creative technology-related skills.
The successful applicant can expect to be assigned courses across a range of instructional areas within the Bachelor of Creative Industries and must have a strong commitment to teaching and interacting with students, an ability to communicate clearly and effectively, and interest in developing and delivering quality curriculum, for an industry that’s fast changing.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS**:**
- A relevant Masters degree (concentration in strategic management, entrepreneurship, operations, international business, management of technology, or human resources) is a requirement for this position for candidates who are successful in obtaining regular/permanent status in this position, however, BCIT will consider applicants who are currently enrolled in a Masters Degree program with an intention of completing the degree within a specified time period, or those who have the intention of enrolling in a program and completing their Masters Degree within a specified time period
- Minimum 5 years of senior leadership experience in a Senior Manager, Director or equivalent-level role
- Minimum 10 years of relevant and current industry-level professional experience in Digital Design, Engineering, Production, Creative Direction, or similar creative technology-related skills
- Demonstrated ability to prepare, deliver and administer relevant and applied training and/or course material, including effective coaching and assessment, in a manner that promotes learner motivation and successful acquisition of skills and knowledge
- Excellent English communication and interaction skills, both oral and written
- Flexible, creative and enthusiastic presentation approach and ability to deliver interactive and experiential sessions
- Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills and ability to foster a collaborative working environment
DESIREDQUALIFICATIONS:

A relevant Doctoral degree (concentration in strategic management, entrepreneurship, operations, international business, management of technology, or human resources)

Experience in the field schools or technology incubators
-
Minimum 3 years of professional experience founding or managing a startup or entrepreneurial business venture
-
Demonstrated post-secondary teaching experience preferably in an academic institution is considered an asset. Including but not limited to:

Facilitating simulation, and experience using simulation best practice standards
-
Demonstrated ability using educational technologies, including online learning platforms
-
Provincial Instructor Diploma
-
Demonstrated interest and appreciation for applied research and multidisciplinary team-led innovation work
