The Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for providing accounting, financial and analytical support with a focus on the preparation of financial reports, analysis, assisting with budgeting, forecast, year-end and reporting system activities for management.
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare, analyze and distribute monthly, quarterly and annual management reporting & KPIs
- Prepare budget and forecast models, analysis and management reporting
- Prepare financial presentations and supporting analysis on financial reports
- Translate business requirements into new reporting requirements, presenting options and data supported recommendations
- Prepare year-end audit schedules and liaise with auditors as required
- Support year end closing process by preparing supporting items, documentation and analysis
- Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy for reporting, analytics and business processes
- Prepare and maintain process documentation for all related functions
- Act as secondary support for general accounting, banking, wire review & approval
- Support and provide backup for cash flow analysis and tracking
- Support ad-hoc requests, special analytics, and financial reporting
- Support planning, testing & analytics for new reporting platforms
- May perform other duties as assigned within the nature and level of the job
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills
- Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate within a team as well as work independently
- Strong self-management skills with the ability to prioritize and balance project work with day-to-day activities to meet strict deadlines
- Strong attention to detail, and use of error-detection methods
- Strong understanding of accounting principles
Knowledge and Experience :
- 5+ years experience in accounting/budgeting/forecasting/analytical & reporting
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required
- Expert level proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point including formulas, pivot tables and macros (VBA)
- SQL and PowerQuery experience is strongly preferred
- Experience with report writing, and business intelligence platforms is an asset
- Knowledge of Aderant (CMS) accounting system is an asset
