About the role
We are looking for a Marketing Operations Data Analyst for a 12-month contract position, with possible extensions in Calgary, Alberta. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Hybrid schedule, at least 4 days in the office. 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week. It is NOT a remote role.
Role Description
The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating reports and dashboards, troubleshooting, and analyzing the financial performance of the business on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis. The Analyst will prepare documents, graphs and status reports as well as provide verbal presentations to leadership. In addition, the role requires competencies in change management and continuous improvement to always seek out new, and challenge existing ways, of discovering profit opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Perform financial & operational reporting and analysis and forecasting/ budgeting of various Marketing business channels, including Asphalt & Industrial Products and Canadian Products Marketing.
- Identify key areas of concern, growth and emerging trends including process improvement enhancements.
- Work closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting, accruals and other entries are identified and accounted for.
- Support the business through financial and operational analysis on major projects and other initiatives.
- Leverage, develop and coach junior personnel in preparing documents, analyzing the business channels, and better understanding the business to support decisions and strategies.
- Work with other departments and business units to help build out other analytical tools and understand their impacts.
- Ability to manage expectations and provide concise presentations to leadership.
- Other ad-hoc reporting.
Required Skills and Experience
- 3-5 years in an analytical role such as Business analysis or Financial analysis
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Commerce, Economics, or related field
- Familiarity with – and ability to analyze – financial statements
- Ability to analyze data and transform that data into summarized forecasts and intelligence for decision-making
- Advanced skills in MS Excel including Pivot Tables and Dashboard creation
- Experience using Spotfire or a similar Business Intelligence tool such as PowerBI to create data visualizations
- Proficient in SAP (BI Reporting Module)
- Self-starter with strong attention to detail, superior organizational skills and the ability to perform within tight deadlines
- Good business acumen
Desired Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in the Sales, Commercial or Retail sector
- Understanding of different streams of oil and gas and their interconnected roles
- Accounting designation
