About the role
We’re seeking a motivated, out-going and detail-oriented Junior Recruiter (HR Administrator) to help us attract and build our talented workforce. This role is perfect for someone passionate about recruitment and eager to grow in the HR field. This role supports a team in their general recruitment efforts.
This role is a full time in office position.
Job Location: 100 Citigate Drive, Ottawa, ON
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Create and post job advertisements.

Review and assess resumes to identify qualified candidates based on job-specific criteria and required competencies.
-
Conduct initial phone screens to evaluate candidate fit, and refer top candidates to hiring team with detailed notes.
-
Coordinate interviews with hiring panel members and ensure timely scheduling.
-
Communicate with candidates throughout the hiring process, providing timely updates, answering inquiries, and ensuring a professional and engaging experience.

Facilitate onboarding by preparing documentation, scheduling orientation sessions, and ensuring all pre-employment requirements are completed.

Administer background and reference checks.
-
Coordinate and attend recruitment events such as job fairs and campus events.
-
Administer new hire surveys and compile feedback for continuous improvement.

Participate in the recruitment process of our summer student program.

Maintain and update our applicant tracking system to ensure accurate and current candidate records.

Perform other duties and projects as required.
EDUCATION, REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:

Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field of study.
-
1+ years of experience in recruiting or an administrative support role (coop or intern experience applies).

Experience with cold calling and proven strong customer service skills.
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-
Familiarity with applicant tracking systems and recruitment software is an asset.
-
Knowledge of and passion for the construction, trucking or environmental industry is an asset.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Sitting for extended periods and frequent use of computer and phone.
- Office-based role with occasional travel to other work sites as required.
- Continuous handling of internal customers and candidates’ inquiries both face to face and on the phone
- Set-up and active participation in recruiting events and career fairs, with occasionally attending evening recruitment events.
