Lumenus Community Services is seeking a Major Gifts Officer, who will be reporting to the Senior Director, Fund Development. The Major Gift Officer will need to work to build and subsequently manage a portfolio of 50-60 donors and prospects at the level of $10,000 plus to meet the needs of the organization and fund new program initiatives, as well as develop a planned giving program amongst major gift donors. With a significant ambition to grow over the next 5 years, the ideal candidate has experience in building a major gifts program, developing the relevant materials in collaboration with Marketing and who has strong networking and relationship skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working with the Senior Director, develop a best-in-class process for major gifts with strong roots in moves management and aim to scale the program quickly
-
Research, strategize and draft grant applications
-
Research and identification of individual & corporate prospects to build the pipeline.
-
Manage a portfolio of 50-60 prospects/donors simultaneously depending on complexity of relationship
-
This includes regular in person and/or virtual meetings
-
Strong documentation skills and understanding of the need for reporting and measurement of activity and results.

Work with numerous internal managers, board members and staff on funding projects to identify the proposal content and effectively retrieve the pertinent information
-
Work with the Senior Director, the Marketing and Fund Development team, and senior volunteers to develop major gift revenue annual objectives.

Represent Lumenus externally in a professional manner
-
Compliance with AFP Donor Bill of Rights and CRA regulations
-
Ensure fund development is carried out in keeping with the organization’s values, mission, vision and plans
-
Strict adherence to Lumenus policies and procedures
-
Adhere to the organizational health and safety policies and practices along with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act. This includes but is not limited to: ensuring safe workplace practices, protecting the health and safety of themselves and others and maintaining cleanliness in the workplace

Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
5-7 years of fundraising experience
-
CFRE, or relevant post-secondary qualification not required but would be considered an asset

Proven track record of success
-
Experience with closing major gifts of 5 and 6 figures
-
Experience developing a strategic annual major gift fundraising plan
-
Experience in planned giving
-
Experience with fundraising database preferably Raiser’s Edge but also other databases providing foundation, corporate and individual donation information and Revenue Canada reports

Proficiency in prospect identification

Advanced oral and written communication skills

Proficiency in pipeline development and donor management including stewardship

Knowledge and proficiency in fundraising activities-prospecting, proposal and grant writing, face to face and online solicitation, stewardship

Working knowledge of fund development software and data management

Ability to work independently and in a team

Demonstrated project leadership and management skills

Ability to close donor solicitations, meet and exceed targets

Current knowledge of best practices related to top tier fundraising organizations

Diplomacy and confidentiality required.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Satisfactory clearance under the Criminal Reference Check process

Drivers licence and access to a vehicle considered an asset

May be required to work evenings or weekends to attend meetings or support fundraising events.
