Term: Permanent, Full-Time

Hours: 35 hours per week

Start Date: As soon as possible

Salary: $44,000-$47,000 annually

Reports To: Supervisor, Cash Management

Nature & Scope

The YMCA finance team provides accounting, budgeting and financial services to over 180 program sites across the Lower Mainland, with total revenues in excess of $55 million annually. We require an enthusiastic team player with excellent data entry skills and attention to detail to take on the accounts payable function and assist with month end processing. This full time position reports to the Cash Management Supervisor and works with the finance staff team as well as various staff in the branches. The YMCA is a pre-approved CPA training facility and has qualified CPA mentors on staff

Major Responsibilities**-** in this position, you will**:**

  • Supporting cash management function
  • Processing and entering employee expense reports
  • Accounts payable processing and record maintenance including:
    • Reviewing invoices for coding and payment approval
    • Obtaining approval for payment, if necessary
    • Data entry
    • Printing & distribution of cheques, creating EFT payment files for vendors
    • Reconciling vendor statements, following up on outstanding invoices and credit notes
    • coding and costing of invoices to appropriate accounts
    • Updating and maintaining vendor and payment records and EFT information
  • Understanding of PST/GST and application of rules for tax compliance
  • Working with branch administrative staff to correct procedures and resolve issues
  • Liaising with banks to address any account issues and queries
  • Performing established business processes, monitoring compliance while improving efficiency when need
  • General accounting and administrative responsibilities to contribute to the overall workflow of the department
  • Other related duties as assigned

  • Successful candidate will be required to provide 3 satisfactory references
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record check with a Vulnerable sector search issued no later than six (6) months preceding the start date.
