Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform high-quality transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE) in accordance with departmental protocols and professional standards.
  • Acquire and analyze a comprehensive range of cardiac images, including 2D, M-mode, color flow, and Doppler studies.
  • Conduct and assist with other cardiac procedures as required (e.g., stress echocardiograms).
  • Ensure accurate and complete preliminary interpretation of findings for review by the supervising physician.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including clinical history and technical reports, using the clinic's Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS).
  • Provide compassionate and professional patient care, including explaining procedures, answering questions, and ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the examination.
  • Collaborate effectively with cardiologists, physicians, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure a seamless and efficient patient workflow.
  • Adhere to all clinic policies and procedures, including those related to infection control, patient confidentiality (HIPAA), and safety.
  • Participate in quality assurance (QA) activities, equipment maintenance, and continuous professional development to stay current with advancements in cardiac sonography.

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a recognized Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography program.
  • Current registration and in good standing with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in Adult Echocardiography (RDCS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) (RCS) is required.
  • Current registration and in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) is mandatory.
  • Proven experience as a Cardiac/Echo Sonographer, preferably in a hospital or private clinic setting.
  • Proficiency in operating various cardiac ultrasound systems and imaging software.
  • Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient-centered approach.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
  • CPR/BLS certification is required.
