Project Controls Specialist

Reporting to the Project Controls Director, the Project Controls Specialist – Cost Management is responsible for configuring, maintaining, and supporting the EcoSys cost management system, ensuring alignment with project controls processes and reporting requirements.This role combines deep cost management expertise with strong system configuration skills, focusing on building and optimizing EcoSys structures, workflows, and integrations to support efficient cost control across projects.
Your role within the team:
- Cost Management & Project Controls***:***
- Provide subject matter expertise in project cost management including budgeting, forecasting, commitment management, change control, and reporting.
- Ensure project financial data integrity and consistency across all project controls systems.
- EcoSys System Configuration & Support***:***
- Configure EcoSys modules, including cost worksheets, reports, dashboards, portfolios, and workflows based on business needs.
- Maintain and enhance EcoSys structures: cost codes, control accounts, resource codes, UDFs, and hierarchical data structures.
- Implement integrations between EcoSys and other systems (e.g., ERP, scheduling tools, document management platforms).
- Perform regular system audits to ensure accuracy, data quality, and compliance with governance standards.
- Support system upgrades, testing, and user acceptance processes.
- Troubleshoot user issues, provide Tier 2/3 support, and escalate system bugs to IT and software vendors as needed.
- Governance & Process Development***:***
- Collaborate with project teams to standardize cost control processes within EcoSys.
- Assist in developing and updating standard operating procedures, governance documentation, and training materials.
- Support change management and adoption initiatives related to EcoSys implementations and process rollouts.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Training***:***
- Serve as a key liaison between project controls, IT, finance, and project delivery teams regarding cost management requirements.
- Provide system training and onboarding for new EcoSys users.
- Gather user feedback and translate business needs into system enhancements and configuration requests.

The ideal candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Information Systems, or related field.
- EcoSys certification or formal training or 3+ years direct experience configuring and maintaining EcoSys EPC or EcoSys Cost Management modules.
- 10+ years’ experience in project controls, with a strong focus on cost management.
- Experience in large capital projects or portfolio management environments.
- Experience integrating EcoSys with ERP and scheduling systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, P6).
- Experience supporting EcoSys implementations from initial setup through steady-state operations.
- Strong skills in data analysis and reporting, including familiarity with SQL queries and data visualization tools.
- Familiarity with process automation within EcoSys (Action Batches, Custom Forms, Workflows).
- Ability to work independently and proactively identify areas for system and process improvement.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
