Job Title: Quality Co-op
Location: NSG Pilkington – Collingwood, ON
Department: Quality
Reports To: Quality Engineer
Employment Type: Full-Time, Co-op Term
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Audits:
Conduct layered process audits and product audits on the production floor to ensure compliance with company procedures, internal quality standards, and customer-specific requirements. - PFMEA & Control Plan Review:
Assist with the review and update of Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and Control Plans, ensuring that risk mitigation strategies are accurate and effective. - Sorting Activities:
Participate in visual inspection, sorting, packing, and documentation of non-conforming parts and materials. Support root cause identification and proper disposition of affected product. - Root Cause Analysis (RCA) & Investigation:
Collaborate on quality investigations using problem-solving methodologies such as 5-Why, Fishbone Diagram, and 8D. Support implementation and verification of corrective/preventive actions. - Data Collection & Analysis:
Collect, analyze, and interpret quality data from manufacturing and inspection processes to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for continuous improvement. - Documentation Support:
Assist in the preparation and maintenance of quality-related documents such as check sheets, work instructions, audit templates, and quality alerts. - Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with the Quality, Production, and Engineering teams to support plant-wide quality improvement efforts and ensure smooth execution of quality plans. - Handling of Glass Components:
Safely handle and inspect glass components while adhering to special handling procedures and packaging standards to prevent damage or contamination.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail with a passion for quality and continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with basic quality tools and problem-solving techniques is an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team setting.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing facility environment.
- Exposure to moving machinery, glass materials, and other industrial elements.
- Safety PPE required; training provided upon onboarding.
