Our firm continues to grow, so we are currently searching for an Intermediate Paralegal to join our Halifax office.

The ideal candidates will have:

· Exceptional attention to detail and is adept at setting priorities

· Strong grammatical skills, including punctuation and proofreading

· Effective communication skills both written and verbal

· Organization and time management skills

· The capability to be an energetic self-starter who initiates and anticipates needs

· A passion for providing superior client service

· The ability to creatively solve problems, make decisions, facilitate and manage deadlines

· The dexterity to remain calm under pressure

· The aptitude to work both independently and within a team

· The capability to work full-time Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week

· The availability to work in the office a minimum of three (3) days per week

Responsibilities:

· Execute initial file reviews and assessments

· Draft various types of documents (i.e. pleadings, motion materials, mediation summaries, chronologies, quantum, statements of claim etc.)

· Manage document discovery process by reviewing and summarizing documentation

· Communicate with clients and opposing counsel

· Conduct legal research, if needed

· Prepare List of Documents

· Organize materials for expert witnesses

· Interview fact and expert witnesses and summarize evidence

· Prepare for XFDs, court hearings, mediation, and trial

· Draft BOC’s and settlement documentation

· Work with internal team and clients on file progress

· Perform other general administrative duties as needed

· Adhere to strict deadlines on a daily basis

· Exercise confidentiality and adapt to changing demands as they arise

· Track and docket your time on a daily basis, meeting daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly billing goals

Qualifications:

· A graduate from a recognized Paralegal program

· In-depth knowledge of legal principles and practices

· A minimum of eight (8) years litigation experience, preferably in insurance defence

· Exceptional technical skills with Microsoft Office

· Demonstrated ability using electronic file management systems, preferably iManage

· Knowledge of Elite 3E
