3-year Limited Term Assistant Professor - Division of Linguistics, Faculty of Arts

The School of Languages, Linguistics, Literatures and Cultures at the University of Calgary is seeking to fill a three-year Limited Term Assistant Professor position in the Division of Linguistics beginning on July 1, 2025. Applicants should have a specialization in generative syntax, with expertise in experimental syntax, psycholinguistics and/or neurolinguistics and an ability to teach senior level courses in their area(s) of research.

Main Responsibilities

  • Teaching duties will consist of two courses per semester for two semesters per year, and may include the following undergraduate courses in the first year: introduction to linguistics, syntax I, psycholinguistics, as well as a combined graduate and undergraduate seminar in their area of research expertise, and other option courses.
  • There will also be a service load and opportunities to work with graduate students who are writing MA theses and Ph.D. candidacy papers and dissertations.
  • The University of Calgary is a research-intensive institution, and the successful candidate for this position will have the opportunity to continue their research program while meeting the responsibilities of the position.

Required Qualifications

  • Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Linguistics or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience and expertise in teaching, and a record of research excellence.
