Job Description:
Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing in-patient and out-patient consultation and plan of care for families requiring infant feeding assistance, as well as follow up for neonates diagnosed or at risk for jaundice. Additionally, you will act as a breastfeeding leader to help the Women’s and Children’s program maintain Breastfeeding Friendly Initiative (BFI) status by contributing to the development of and leading change initiatives to achieve BFI performance targets and coaching and role modeling breastfeeding best practice for staff and physicians.
Qualifications:
THP is committed to internal talent, and therefore priority will be given to internal applicants.
- Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or currently meet the eligibility criteria to register in good standing in the Temporary Class or General Class with the CNO
- NRP Certification required
- International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (I.B.C.L.C.) preferred
- BCLS required
- Three years current experience in Mother Baby Unit required, NICU experience an asset
- Hospital Clinic Experience an asset
- Demonstrated aptitude in providing breastfeeding support and direction
- Demonstrated commitment to patient and family-centred care and developing therapeutic relationships
- Expertise in adult learning and patient teaching principles preferred
- Experience in a consulting role preferred
- A positive work and attendance record is essential
