The Opportunity:

This is a light-labour position responsible for the physical room set up and take down of equipment required for a variety of functions and events such as, business meetings, large public events and tournaments. This position monitors the use of the rooms, assists customers in their requests and helps to manage the incoming and outgoing flow of guests. This position will work closely with the Customer Service department to meet scheduled event needs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Set-up and take down of tables and chairs and other preparation for small and large scale meetings and special events
  • Equipment and room set up for both indoor and outdoor athletic events
  • Assist the facility in managing the traffic flow of people arriving and departing various events
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing customer concerns and questions
  • Monitor facility areas and activities to ensure a safe environment is maintained and ensure the facility is secured at the close of the event
  • Provide a wide variety of light maintenance and custodial duties, ensuring clean, safe and well maintained facilities for users

You Bring:

  • A minimum of 16 years of age
  • Current Standard First Aid - Level C CPR and AED certifications are required (or able to obtain certification prior to start of employment)
  • Custodial experience would be an asset
  • Experience in small and large event room set up or similar experience would be an asset
  • Previous experience working in a customer service related position is considered an asset
  • WHMIS, safe lifting training and time management training would be considered asset
  • Experience with Recreation Management and Scheduling software is an asset
  • Ability to set up rooms according to plan (shared by description or in a drawing)
  • Must be able to skillfully and competently operate applicable equipment (training will be provided and a competency test will be required)
  • Anticipate the needs of clients and be willing and able to respond to last minute changes
  • Adapt well in a fast paced, challenging environment with multiple and changing priorities
  • Self-starter that can work independently with minimal supervision to complete assigned daily tasks and priorities
  • Demonstration of excellent problem solving and decision making skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated initiative and high work standard
  • Keen awareness for safety
  • Willing to participate and perform a broad range of duties

Additional Information:

This is a part-time position and will require the ability to work a flexible shift schedule (day, evening and weekend shifts). All facility attendants are required to be available for two shifts per week (no guaranteed minimum hours). Monthly schedules will be set based on your availability and operational needs.

Successful candidates must be able to perform physically demanding tasks and will be required to regularly lift (up to 50 pounds), bend, push, pull and kneel to manage the manual labor component of the position.
