Supported by the Manager, Community Safety and Support, the Supervisor is responsible for supervising a team of staff accountable for the effective and efficient program delivery of active living, social recreation and centralized programing.
What You’ll Do Team Leadership:
- Support, coach and develop staff team to meet program deliverables and divisional objectives
- Identify team building opportunities and recognition opportunities
- Assist in providing input into performance reviews for staff
- Identify training needs and develop standard training plans for program staff
- Ensure that WHIMS, Health and Safety and labour standards/practices are maintained in a consistent and documented fashion
Program Delivery And Resource Management
- Develop programs and coordinate activities needed to implement active living (e.g., Rookie Ball, Kickstart, Midnight Basketball), social recreation (e.g., gardening and beautification programs) and other centralized programs
- Coordinate all activities needed to implement program plans while maintaining high standards of service excellence
- Ensure safety of program spaces and report deficiencies for timely follow-up
- Ensure program evaluations are complete
- Provide feedback to Manager for program improvement and innovation
- Coordinate Home Run Scholars Program
Communication
- Identify, coordinate and schedule timely communication of program timelines and schedules within the internal and external partners
- Document programs for the purpose of showcasing flagship activities to the organization and public
- Respond to inquiries, questions or complaints related to programs and documents follow-up actions
Logistics And Administration
- Maintain records keeping system for all programs
- Maintain and update all related process and procedure manuals related to programs
- Maintain necessary records keeping and tracking systems used to measures program outputs for the purpose of evaluation and reporting
- Ensure all needed resources are ordered, inventoried and safely maintained in order to support program delivery
- Coordinate the all logistics needed to ensure program efficient program delivery such as moving supplies, purchasing ordering supplies and equipment
What You’ll Need
- College diploma in recreation and leisure services or related program, or equivalent experience
- 3 years’ experience supervising large-scale community recreation programs
- Experience working with Youth and Children
- Experience in partnership development and management
- Extensive knowledge of a broad range of sports and recreation activities
- Strong writing skills including grant, proposal and report writing
- Experience supervising unionized staff is preferred
- Experience in conducting community needs assessments
- Progressive experience in program delivery and community development
- Proven ability to foster positive relationships with children, youth and parents
- Strong conflict management and negotiation skills
- Requires a valid, non-probationary, Province of Ontario class “G” driver’s license
- Ability to work flexible and varied hours (some evening and weekends are required
