Job description

United Gulf Developments is seeking a full-time Senior Bookkeeper to work under the direct supervision of our company Contoller as part of our land development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day and periodic tasks of the company.

Our ideal candidate is someone with accounting and payroll experience, excellent organizational skills, and above average attention to detail.

Only qualified applicants with Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status will be considered.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks (including payroll modules) and Excel
  • Knowledgeable in financial statements and intercompany transactions
  • Be able to reconcile accounts and establish procedures to ensure accuracy
  • Familiarity with database management and job costing processes
  • Possess superior written and oral communication skills
  • A self-starter with the ability to prioritize and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Exceptional attention to detail and time management skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills

Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Payable, Receivable and Reconciliations
  • Weekly and Bi-weekly Payroll processing
  • Establish and maintain charts of accounts
  • Prepare HST and other regulatory returns (e.g. union remittances, CRA, WCB)
  • Prepare monthly and annual supporting schedules for financial statements
  • Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and staff
  • Accurately update and maintain databases and records
  • Update and maintain both electronic and paper filing management system
  • Provide administrative support to rest of team

Requirements:

  • Community College or University degree with accounting component
  • Minimum of 3 years accounting experience in private business
  • Minimum of 1 year payroll experience
  • Proficient in QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook

The following skills will be considered assets:

  • Experience in the construction industry
  • Experience using Account Edge software
