Northland Properties' Construction & Design Team is looking for Construction Surveyor with total station experience for its projects with Sandman Hotel Group in Kelowna/BC
Reporting to the site superintendent, our Surveyor must ensure all work is completed in compliance with relevant safety regulations and company policies. Your key duties will include:
- Develop and implement survey plans, methods, and procedures for legal boundary surveys, subdivisions, and easements.
- Operate and maintain total station equipment with proficiency to ensure precise surveying measurements.
- Plan, supervise, or conduct field surveys using total stations, GPS, and drones (UAVs) to establish and mark legal property lines, roadways, utilities, and construction layouts.
- Perform construction staking (“stake-out”) to ensure accurate placement of structures, roads, and infrastructure.
- Capture high-precision 2D/3D measurements with total station; record elevation, azimuth, distance, and angle data.
- Process and analyze survey data using GIS and CAD software; prepare and revise cross-sectional drawings, maps, plans, and legal survey documents.
- Certify survey plans and reports, assuming legal responsibility for survey accuracy.
- Provide consultation, expert testimony, and technical support on land surveys and boundary disputes.
- Maintain and calibrate surveying instruments, including total stations, GNSS systems, and drones.
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, architects, and government agencies to ensure surveys meet project requirements.
- Support the growth and development of company culture.
- Perform other duties as required.
Required qualifications:
- 3+ years of working experience in similar roles.
- Proven experience operating total stations and related surveying instruments.
- Valid BC Land Surveyor license.
- Possession and maintenance of necessary tools, equipment, and protective gear.
- Demonstrated knowledge and compliance with health & safety regulations, procedures, and company policies.
- Ability to adhere to project specifications and timelines, ensuring high quality and efficiency.
- Strong analytical skills and excellent communication abilities.
- Physically fit to perform fieldwork in various weather and site conditions.
- Self-motivated, energetic, and forward-thinking.
