SCOPE OF THE JOB/POSITION

The Director Quality Assurance & Maintenance Training is responsible for establishing, implementing, reviewing and promoting quality and continuous improvement systems within the organization including managing and ensuring regulatory and legal compliance with relevant industry requirements. The Director Quality Assurance & Maintenance Training will be responsible for developing and administering training to all Maintenance Staff & Pilots (Elementary work) and ensuring that all employees within the maintenance department receive the same standard of training.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Ensure safety, security, quality and risk management policies and related applications are adequately implemented, monitored and that the airline operates within a safe environment at all times;
  • Actively promote safety and quality within the organization and department by encouraging employee participation in SMS and ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders;
  • Comply with all SMS and safety policies, processes, and standards;
  • Responsible for establishing, documenting, developing and managing the Quality System to ensure it complies with regulatory requirements and meets the needs of the business;
  • Ensure that all quality related policies and procedures are adhered to and carry out ongoing reviews of the adequacy and effectiveness of Quality System procedures;
  • Maintain and keep all quality audit and inspection records current. Liaise with the third parties (Transport Canada, IOSA) when required on matters related to the Quality System;
  • Establish procedures for addressing with non-compliance, monitoring non-compliance reports and undertake corrective/preventive actions in response to audit findings;
  • Monitor compliance and adequacy of procedures to ensure airworthy aircraft through an established audit program;
  • Monitor all contracted maintenance for compliance with contract conditions relevant to airworthiness. Monitor all certificate renewals relevant to the AMO and AOC;
  • Ensure the organization holds all the appropriate and current technical publications, specifications and drawings as required;
  • Responsible for updating/maintaining Audit Manual as per the applicable CARs and company operating procedure
  • Report to the Maintenance Management team if there are inadequate resources to support the Corporate Quality Assurance and Audit functions;
  • Communicate any Corporate SMS Quality Assurance and Audit process shortcomings to the applicable operating Department Head and if required to the Person Responsible for Maintenance (PRM);
  • Define the syllabus of training, in conjunction with the various Maintenance Managers;
  • Plan, present, evaluate, and document training courses as required by the company’s Maintenance Policy Manual (MPM) and Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs);
  • Develop, update and administer training courses;
  • Ensure cost effective ways to provide the following training: initial training, recurrent training, additional training, elementary work and servicing;
  • Ensure that sufficient examinations or practical tests are administered and graded;
  • Ensure that all staff who carry out Quality Inspections and Quality audits are adequately trained;
  • Retain and store training courses, training records, and training aids by updating of Quality Management System (QMS) and the Learning Management System (LMS);
  • Meet with management staff and the training department to review audit findings and identify ways to improve results
  • Develop and maintain departmental procedures and ensure staff are aware of maintenance safety related issues in general;
  • Any additional jobs and responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President Technical Operations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have completed a Transport Canada approved program in Aviation Maintenance or have received equivalent training recognized by Transport Canada;
  • Aviation College Diploma or University Degree strongly preferred;
  • Valid AME M2 License;
  • At least 5 years industry related work experience;
  • 3 years supervisory and/or management experience;
  • Through knowledge of Transport Canada Civil Aviation Regulations and Standards;
  • Aviation Audit training and Instructional Techniques Training an asset;
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office products;
  • Highly organized and resourceful;
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills;
  • Self-starter with demonstrated leadership, conflict resolution, problem solving and negotiating skills;
  • High degree of diplomacy and discretion when dealing with sensitive corporate issues;
  • Thrives in a fast-moving environment, with high tolerance for change;
  • Motivated and enthusiastic team player who can work in an autonomous and/or team setting;
  • Flexible and willing to work irregular hours, including evenings / weekends and holidays;
  • Availability to work overtime and travel to outstations and other bases (including U.S.A. destinations) to provide required support;
  • Maintain valid personal travel documents including passport, visa and driver’s license;
  • Frequent sitting, computer monitor and keyboard use for extended periods of time.

Pay: $90,000.00-$130,000.00 per year

Pivot Airlines is a Canadian charter and regional airline launched in June 2020, headquartered at Toronto Pearsons airport. Pivot Airlines announced its intention to enter scheduled service on September 15, 2020. To date, Pivot Airlines has played an important role in keeping the Southern Ontario economy moving and safe by providing essential service charters during COVID-19. Essential service clients include DND, RCMP, OPP, coastal patrol, ISC and several resource sector clients who depended on Pivot to provide executive and workforce transportation.

On October 18, 2021, Pivot announced its intention to enter the pre-sales stage for scheduled service from Kitchener Ontario. Previously announced routes include Ottawa and Montreal, with additional domestic and transborder routes expected to commence service in early 2022.

Pivot Airlines currently operates the CRJ 200 series aircraft and has announced its intention to remain with the 50 seat or larger variant of that platform for charter and scheduled service.
