The location in Plymouth, (North Carolina, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Entry Level Production Pool. This job is full-time permanent.

Domtar’s Plymouth, NC pulp mill is currently seeking hourly, entry-level production workers who have a safety mindset. Our career progression provides opportunities to gain experience and develop skills in pulp manufacturing technologies while increasing your earnings.

Workers in the entry level labor pool are assigned to operating and service departments to assist with extra workload, cover absences, and supplement crews. Job duties may include but are not limited to; operation of machinery, forklift/clamp truck operating and general housekeeping.

If selected for consideration, you must successfully complete a selection process that may include, but is not limited to, aptitude tests, interviews, pre-employment physical, criminal background investigation, reference verification, and pre-employment drug screening.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years full or part-time work/school experience. Candidates must have a minimum of 24 months steady work history with no major gaps in employment history (recent layoffs and graduations will be taken into consideration).
  • Must be available to work rotating 8-hour shifts that include weekends, holidays, and overtime as necessary. Southern swing shift rotation. The department for this position depends on mill need at the time.
  • Must be able to perform typical physical aspects of the job, including standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), bending, twisting, reaching, navigating stairs.
  • Ability to pass panel interview, pre-employment physical capabilities test, pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, and a background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in the pulp and paper industry.
  • Career Readiness Certificate.

  • Mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting skills
  • Decision-making and communication skills.
  • Basic math, reading comprehension, writing and computer skills.
  • Ability to work in a hot and humid environment.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter, and work in a team environment.

You will be required to successfully complete a selection process that could include interviews, an employment background check, a pre-employment drug and alcohol screen, reference verifications, aptitude tests (for some positions), and a fitness-for-duty test (for some positions).
