About the role
The Bayshore Northern Staffing team has proudly been the leading provider of healthcare professionals to Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) and Northern Communities across Canada since 1997, and providing nurses an opportunity to experience an expanded scope of practice while enjoying an adventure in breathtaking Northern Canada at the same time!
We are proudly the primary provider working directly in partnership with the Government of Nunavut to bring high-quality healthcare services to the Northern communities in need, and we are looking for more Advanced Care Paramedics (ACP) to join our travel team. Our ACPs perform an expanded role in these communities, providing primary and emergency care to all residents –from newborn to elders –through a nursing station / Health Center in a clinic atmosphere. We provide a unique way to experience an expanded clinical scope of practice while enjoying an adventure at the same time! Average assignment durations start from 2 - 3 weeks.
The Work You Will Do
- Paramedics will primarily work in clinic-based environments and perform an expanded role in these communities, providing primary and emergency care to all residents –from newborn to elders –through a nursing station / Health Center in a clinic atmosphere.
- Complete Health Promotion, Assessments, support and implementing care using Best Practice Clinical Practice Guidelines.
- Work as part of a care-team with nurses in a clinic with urgent/non‐urgent walk‐ins as well as primary care follow-ups.
- This work requires you to have the ability to think & react quickly to prioritize patient needs because there are no physicians onsite.
Candidate Requirements
- You are a graduate from an accredited Paramedic Program and are practicing in good standing
- You have or are willing to obtain an appropriate license, if applicable, through the regulating body in the province or territory you wish to work
- You have 1,950 hours (or one year of FT year) of work experience as an ACP.
