About the role

We are looking for a motivated and productivity-oriented Fibre Splicer to join our expanding team!

We are one of Canada's leading telecommunications contractors, servicing major clients such as Telus, SaskTel, Bell, and many others. WPT is positioned to continue its significant growth as our partner clients undertake large scale capital projects to expand Canada's telecom infrastructure. Our reputation for industry-leading quality and efficiency has made us a long-standing contractor of choice.

Our people truly are key to our success, so we work hard to attract, develop, and retain great team members. We invest in your development path – coaching, mentoring, and training continuously to help grow your capabilities, competencies, and confidence.

Job Duties:

  • Build fibre optic splice closures (FOSCs), prep, and splice OSP fibre cables into various FOSCs
  • Dress and mount aerial FOSCs and cables. This may involve using a bucket truck, ladder, or climbing telecommunication poles with spurs. Working heights range from 15-40ft
  • Dress and rack FOSCs and cables in pedestals, service boxes, vaults, and manholes
  • Use OTDR, OLTS, and Power Meters to test, analyze, and troubleshoot fibre networks
  • Read and interpret telecom design prints and update based on progress, changes, field findings
  • Safely drive and maneuver vehicles into tight spaces and easements.
  • Perform other duties as requested

Essential Attributes For Success:

We live and breathe our 6 core values. They are essential not just for each individual’s success in their role, but also for the success of WP Telectronics as a whole

  • Prioritize Safety – No job is so urgent or important that it can’t be done safely. Safety is in every decision and every action that we do
  • Do the Right Thing – Act with integrity in all situations
  • Be the Best – Never settle for good enough when it comes to productivity, quality, or safety
  • Find a Better Way – Challenge the status quo. Without sacrificing safety, always look for a way to be a little bit more efficient, a little bit more productive, and produce a higher quality product
  • Support Each Other – Everyone has a part to play in our team’s success
  • Welcome the Challenge – Solving tough problems is what we do. It’s what separates us from the rest of the industry. Embrace the challenge and enjoy the ride

Aside from having attributes that are in line with our core values, one other essential “must-have” is your ability to travel. WP Telectronics has projects all over Canada. We need road warriors who can go where the projects are. A typical shift rotation is 21 days on, 10 days off
