Procurement Specialist I
About the role
Your Opportunity:
Under the supervision of the Lead - Supply Management, the Procurement Specialist I performs purchasing functions consistent with established AHS procurement policies and practices within the inventory portfolio that services warehouses across the province. You will be responsible for the acquisition of supplies for multiple warehouses in a set portfolio, expediting product, solving and escalating issues, and providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers. You will perform the acquisition process primarily for purchases of a transactional nature which includes the creation of purchase agreements and issuance of purchase orders. You will issue purchase orders using preset templates according to established rules outlining segregation of duties, expedite materials ensuring on-time delivery and resolve all invoice discrepancies. You will actively participate in daily provincial zero-fill calls and ensure supply issues are actioned and addressed in a timely manner. Position is remote and located in Calgary or Edmonton.

You will be responsible for the acquisition and procurement of routinely purchased supplies, equipment and services within assigned work groups. Your other responsibilities may include researching and collating information, preparing requests for quotations, and issuing purchase orders using pre-set templates and established rules.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Intermediate understanding of purchasing, warehousing, logistics and Inventory Management. 1-3 years of purchasing experience. Proficiency with MS Office applications. Ability to communicate in English clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing, with all levels of staff, management, and vendors. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to problem-solve and come up with solutions. Effective organizational skills, ability to prioritize, accuracy and attention to detail. Client focused and ability to work effectively in a team environment. Team mentality must come before the individual. Must be a self-starter; demonstrate initiative and be able to action assigned tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
