About the role

POSITION OVERVIEW

Landscapers are responsible for ensuring proper care of the exterior of the facility. This includes maintenance of the areas surrounding the facility to meet standards set by the company.

The selected candidate will need to meet the minimum requirements set by the Agricultural and Agri-Food Canada YESP program.

RESPONSIBILITIES

General Responsibilities

  • Lawn and yard maintenance
  • Landscaping
  • Yard trimming
  • Weeding
  • Flower planting
  • Operating small equipment
  • Spring clean-ups
  • Fall clean-ups
  • Inform Supervisor of equipment wear or damage.
  • Live by the company’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with all levels of staff.
  • All other duties assigned by the Plant Manager.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Grade 12 education and strong English (written and verbal)
  • 1+ years of experience as a landscaper, groundskeeper, or similar field
  • Ability to lift 50lbs unassisted
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Current and up to date background check
  • Experience pulling small trailers is considered an asset
  • CSA approved steel-toed boots or shoes are required
  • Must be able to follow procedures and efficiently and effectively prioritize and organize their work
  • Must be able to react quickly to problems as they arise
  • Strong individual judgement is a must to schedule work tasks and set priorities
  • This position is encouraged to independently bring forth innovative ideas and suggestions to improve the landscape around the facility

The incumbent will be working in a proprietary environment. Policies and procedures are shared between Golden Valley Foods Ltd. and the L.H. Gray & Son group of companies. Discussion of these with non-Golden Valley Foods and L.H. Gray affiliated employees is strictly forbidden. Some specific policies can be shared with Fresh Start as Golden Valley Foods owners.

This is a full-time seasonal position. Shift schedule is Monday to Friday 8am-4:30pm.
40 hours a week with opportunity for overtime.

Sparks Egg Inc. is a leading supplier of farm fresh eggs to Calgary, Edmonton and surrounding areas. Our Grading Station handles approximately 50% of Alberta's egg production, processing eggs from over 70 Alberta egg producers.

Our facility for production, grading, packaging, marketing and storage is approximately 37,000 square feet. Processing and packaging is handled by state-of-the-art grading equipment at speeds of 250 to 400 cases - 7500 to 9000 dozen eggs - per hour, this amounts to more than one million eggs per day!
