About the role
Duties:
-
Report to the Payroll Manager and ensure the timely completion of bi-weekly payroll processing.
-
Reconcile payroll prior to transmission, ensuring employees are compensated for their employment contracts and charged to the correct GL accounts and dimension combinations.
-
Set up and maintain payroll details in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV payroll system, including pay controls, rates, tax authority, and other relevant information.
-
Responsible for managing the salary budget in Questica and completing FTE comparison reports.
-
Review and update vacation and sick days and calculate vacation liability as required.
-
Prepare and submit all required Records of Employment (ROE).
-
Liaise with benefits providers to manage employee benefits updates, ensure accurate benefit deductions, and maintain records.
-
Collaborate with managers and Human Resources to address payroll-related issues effectively.
-
Handle payroll year-end duties, including preparing T4s, T4 summaries, and other year-end forms.
-
Ensure all payroll-related tax remittances (e.g., tax withholdings, EHT, and WSIB) are completed promptly.
-
Review payroll payable accounts reconciliation.
-
Perform additional ad hoc payroll analysis as needed.
-
Follow up on payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

Data migration, including, but not limited to, data cleansing, mapping, extraction, transformation, validation/testing.

Prepare system testing scenarios.
Qualifications:
-
College or university degree in Payroll, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
-
Certified Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) in good standing with the National Payroll Institute.
-
Minimum of 6 years’ experience in a large payroll environment (600+ employees), including unionized payroll experience.
-
Experience with financial software such as NAV 2016/2016+ and/or Workday is a definite asset.
-
Familiarity with payroll tax, EHT, and WSIB remittances.

Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks to meet payroll deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

High proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly advanced skills in MS Excel.

Knowledge of payroll accounting practices and applicable government legislation.
-
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
-
Detail-oriented with the capacity to work under tight timelines.
-
Must be fully vaccinated or be exempt from vaccination on human rights grounds. COSTI reserves the right to require information establishing the validity of the exemption.

$82,592 to $88,133 + benefits
