Responsibilities

The Technical/Research Support 1 will work

  • in collaboration with principal investigators, staff, and students, affiliated with the Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery and have responsibilities for conducting experiments and presenting results

  • setting up and conducting clinical research studies according to study procedures, maintain records, support the research activities for qualitative and quantitative projects in adherence with ethics protocols and guidelines

  • to recruit study participants, prepare study-related materials, data collection and data cleaning

Qualifications

Education:

  • Undergraduate Degree in a health-related field

Experience:

  • 2 year work experience supporting research in a related technical field

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:

  • Familiarity with experimental design and analysis

  • Demonstrated knowledge of research principles and methods (quantitative and qualitative approaches)

  • Detail-oriented with an ability to retrieve, analyze and synthesize sizable amounts of data, while ensuring that information is accurate and comprehensive

  • Ability to follow processes with high attention to detail

  • Ability to employ a systematic and efficient approach to work

  • Computer skills with the ability to learn and use software programs including SPSS, and NVivo

  • Familiarity with REDCap an asset

  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public

  • Ability to develop and maintain multi-site study databases

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and resolve issues

  • Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals

  • Experience conducting literature searches

  • Flexible availability
