POSITION: Personal Support Worker

UNIT: 2 Main, Inpatient Surgery

STATUS: Full Time

SALARY: $30.18 - $30.60

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

The PSW will be working at their full scope of practice and will be responsible for the following (but not limited to):

  • Assisting patients with activities of daily living and other duties assigned

  • Performing basic care functions

  • Completing unit specific documentation forms

  • Observing and reporting changes in patient conditions to appropriate team members

  • Practicing infection control and safety measures in accordance with Hospital policies and procedures

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Personal Support Worker Certificate from an accredited post-secondary educational institution

  • Current registration with the Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA)

  • Current BLS certification

  • Problem solving, critical thinking, decision making, and conflict resolution skills

  • Knowledge and commitment to patient and staff safety

  • Ability to adapt and work within a constantly changing environment

  • Basic computer skills (Outlook, Cerner, etc.)

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of essential duties of the position

  • Ability to attend work on a regular basis in accordance with the Attendance Support Program

  • Performance record in alignment with STEGH’s Mission, Vision, Values and Code of Conduct

WHAT WE PREFER YOU TO HAVE:

  • One (1) year of recent experience as a Personal Support Worker in a hospital setting

  • Crisis Intervention Training

HOURS:

Must be able to meet the availability and non-availability requirements outlined in the OPSEU Service Collective Agreement.
