Côté Gold is being developed in partnership with the Mattagami First Nation, Flying Post First Nation and Métis Nation of Ontario, Region 3.
The open-pit gold mine is a joint venture between IAMGOLD and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. and is operated by IAMGOLD. We are located near Gogama, Ontario, with access to stable infrastructure and strong connections with our local communities.

Resource Geologist The Resource Geologist provides support short and long term resource modelling. With audit and quality control, they deliver effective use of geology softwares, databases, QAQC programs and 3D models. The Resource Geologist supports the development and optimization of the block model and supports the mining and geology teams with a view to optimizing resources and reserves.
Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties Area 1 Resource Modelling.
- Validate field data: Survey – Deviation – Lithology - Assay results.
- Assist in validating the geological interpretations carried out by the Geology team.
- Integrate the grade control information/observation into the modelling.
- Ensure that the data collected by the Geology team and technicians is accurate (use technology to verify accuracy of databases and visual observation to review the data registries to support the databases).
- Validate the accuracy and application of the 3D models for mineralized zones.
- Execute the modelling and validate it against DDH-RC-BH.
- Maintain and improve QA/QC process and validation of results.
Area 2 Geological modelling.
- Update/improve geological modelling such as lithology, structure, alteration, mineralization, ect...
- Develop and implement procedures and working methodologies for estimating resources according to long term models. Ensure that these procedures and methodologies are documented according to required standards.
- Recommend updates or changes to the resource estimation process to improve the quality and efficiency of estimates. Ensure that all modifications are implemented and documents.
- Assist in producing official resource reports (mid-year and year end MRMR).
Area 3 Geology software, databases and more.
- Establish and maintain geology software, databases, QAQC programs and 3D models.
- Participate in the acquisition, installation and improvement of geology softwares (Leapfrog, Minesight, AcQuire)
- Develop deployment programs for system changes and map process workflow with other departments.
- Write scripts for site specific processes and conduct comparison/audits with other solutions.
- Understanding of SQL-based database systems; ability to query, validate and manipulate geological data for modelling and reporting purposes.
Area 4 Work collaboratively with others to deliver innovative continuous improvement opportunities.
- Seek and implement best-in-class practices.
- Propose new methods to meet challenges of mine geology (grade control – resource – reserve).
- Propose and improve the ore body understanding.
- Keep abreast of trends in mine geology and impart to Côté Gold.
- Provide new approaches, methods or policies to optimize drilling performance and ensure compliance with industry regulations and organizational standards.
- Continuously seek to improve technical knowledge and skills.
- Conduct research and benchmarking to support decision-making and improve mining processes, technologies and methodologies used for the mine.
Safety & Sustainability Expectations Maintain a cooperative interest in the health and safety of yourself, your fellow workers and local communities. Wear PPE at all times if in production environments. Be alert and observe, correct and report unsafe conditions. Follow operating procedures and comply with all regulatory requirements. Ensure that work areas are in compliance with all of IAMGOLD’s Health and Safety policies and the Occupational Health and Safety Acts in the applicable jurisdiction. Intervene as necessary, to ensure the safety of others in the workplace. Provide safety leadership by always setting a good example.

Job Qualifications Minimum Requirements And Nice To Haves minimum qualifications, formal education, certifications or equivalents
- Post-secondary degree in geology or other mining related field.
- Registration (or eligibility to register) as a Geologist (PGO) or Engineer in Geology (Peng) in Ontario.
Work experience - Nature & Length
- 3-7 years of geology experience in a mining or exploration environment of which at least 2 years is with the resource geology team.
Additional Qualifications - Competency Requirements
- Understanding of database management systems (acQuire) and QAQC principles.
- Proficiency in Leapfrog.
- Understanding of geostatistical and resource estimation methods.
- Attention to detail. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently including organizing and prioritizing job duties.
- Commitment to develop innovative solutions for the organization.
- Commitment to teamwork to ensure the effectiveness of the geology team.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written, with both internal and external contacts and the ability to work with all levels of the organization.
Leadership Requirements
- Mentor Geologists in Training (GIT) as required.
Working Environment
- Site work 14/14 rotation.
- Work involves limited exposure to disagreeable conditions.
- Physical environment is generally safe and there is minimal health risk.
- Some physical effort or considerable sensory demand.
- Frequent periods of visual or auditory concentration without choice of action.
