Overview The PA division is responsible for enhancing and protecting the OEB’s brand and reputation. In support of the OEB’s strategic goals, operational objectives and priorities, the division provides strategic advice and counsel to senior executives and management; develops and implements internal and external communication plans; manages media and public relations, strategic brand marketing and advertising; and develops and maintains strong working relationships with key stakeholder groups within and outside the organization.
Reporting to the Manager of Corporate Communications, the Senior Advisor provides strategic communications support to internal clients through a business partner model. This role involves building strong relationships on a foundation of collaboration and understanding to guide the development and execution of effective communication strategies and tactics that align not only with the OEB’s mandate, vision, mission, and values, but the needs of the client. Responsibilities may include supporting corporate initiatives through research and marketing communications, engaging with consumer groups and industry associations, and collaborating with non-energy sector organizations and government partners to ensure communications are relevant and effective.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and production of program-based strategy and execute required tactics/materials to support corporate communication projects/initiatives.
- Liaise with appropriate vendors if and as required to meet established deliverables.
- Develop, edit, and distribute information through various internal and external channels including briefing notes, news releases, backgrounders, key message documents, social media, and website content, corporate publications, speeches, presentation materials, and other various communications tactics
- Lead communication projects and other related initiatives by applying strategic methodologies
- Gather stakeholder information and analytics to support communication needs and opportunities for improvement.
- Lead and facilitate internal relationships/working groups where corporate communication partnerships are required.
- As a trusted advisor to all stakeholders, develop and maintain positive, thoughtful relationships.
- Be knowledgeable about the latest communications and social media best practices and technologies and recommend improvements
Qualifications
- University degree in Stakeholder Relations, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related discipline.
- 5 years’ experience in an advisory communications role focused on writing, communications strategy development and execution, media relations and client service.
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Teams, Adobe, SharePoint.
- Social and traditional news media strategy experience.
- Strong client service orientation as well as writing, editing, planning as well as presentation skills.
- Strong analytical skills, makes decisions based on data and insights.
- Professional presence.
- Bilingual in French and English is an asset.
