Manager, Office & Contract Services

Annual salary: $ 107,000.00 - 135,300.00
What you'll do
BC Hydro has a large, complex portfolio of facilities across the province of British Columbia. We have an exciting
opportunity for an engaged people manager to join our Properties team as the Manager, Office & Contract Services.
This role will lead a team of experienced administration and contract support individuals to manage BC Hydro’s diverse
Office & Contract Services portfolio. We are looking for a team player with high energy, strong technical contract
management and procurement skills, and a passion for leadership. This hybrid role is based at Dunsmuir (Vancouver) and
will oversee employees located at both Dunsmuir (Vancouver) and Edmonds (Burnaby) locations.
Reporting to the Manager, Workspace & Office Services, the Manager, Office & Contract Services leads a small team of
MoveUp unionized employees to provide administrative, contract, supplier management, and financial support to BC
Hydro’s Properties team, and deliver operational services to users across BC Hydro.
- As the contract owner/manager for multiple key contracts, develops plans and manages effective business relationships
with suppliers and contractors to provide office services including: mailing & courier services, parking services, print & copy
services, furniture supply & install services, cafeteria/food services and workplace recycling programs.
- Works with Procurement to administer contracts. Collaborates with Procurement on required sourcing activity (including
leading or supporting contract negotiations as needed).
- Monitors contract and contractor performance, manages supplier relationships, and ensures contractual issues are
identified and actioned appropriately.

Manages monthly budget and forecasting effectively to ensure compliance and adherence to budget requirements.

Builds an engaged, high-performing team and guides employee development & training.

Develops and maintains strong working relationships within Properties and with other key BC Hydro teams as needed
(such as Technology, Procurement, Human Resources).
- Develops & manages corporate policies related to service areas. Works with Human Resources to ensure the Corporate
Parking Policy is adhered to. Oversees BC Hydro’s meeting room requirements enterprise-wide and ensures standards are
followed for the creation/deletion of meeting rooms.
- Participates in management planning for the department by formulating plans and strategies for areas of accountability.
Incorporates industry best practices and continuous improvement into office services strategies and processes.

Participates in working groups as a subject matter expert as required.

This role will require managing conflicting priorities and projects with tight deadlines, strong analysis & problem-solving
skills, and communicating recommendations on operational and complex, strategic issues.
In addition, supports Workspace Management projects, as work schedule allows:
- Supports the development and implementation of the next generation of workspace design, within our Flexible Workplace
Program, and optimal usage for all BC Hydro employees to accommodate more flexibility in the future.
- Works with internal clients proactively and reactively to plan and respond to requirements for additional workspace to
accommodate the expansion or centralization of teams, new capital projects or growing business requirements.
- Provides project management expertise for workspace projects, including interior renovations or upgrades, fit up and
decommissioning of new buildings or leases.
What you bring
-
Bachelors’ level degree in a relevant field or equivalent.
-
A minimum of 7 years’ experience in progressively more responsible management or project leadership positions, with
demonstrated experience in contract or supplier management.
- A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a leadership capacity is also required. Experience managing a unionized team is
highly preferred.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may also be considered.
-
Familiarity with workspace planning and/or commercial renovation projects, project and budget management are highly
preferred.
- Enthusiastic, self-directed and a quick study, you’ll have exceptional interpersonal skills necessary to establish effective
working relationships with various stakeholders.
- Strong leadership skills are required with a focus on change management, mentoring, and engagement across business
units. Strong collaboration skills and ability to influence others.

Well-developed planning, organizational, analytical, problem-solving and financial management skills.

Exceptional communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills, including business case writing, briefing notes, and
proposals.
- Ability to effectively manage shifting priorities and deadlines within a high-volume environment.
