POSITION:

Administrative Control Clerk

DEPARTMENT:

Medical Clinics

CONDITIONS:

Temporary part-time (0.50 FTE) for approximately twenty-two (22) months

HOURS:

Approximately 37.5 Bi-weekly Hours

SHIFTS:

Days

7.5 hours per shift (subject to change)

WAGE RANGE:

Scale Minimum Maximum

NONU $26.87/hr $32.57/hr

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To provide clerical, reception, and communication service and support to the patient care areas and staff to optimize flow of patients and information
  • Transcribing physician orders as per QCH policy
  • Completing Order Entry (OE) - Processing paper and electronic requisitions, requesting consults, tests, procedures and follow-up appointments at QCH
  • Maintaining statistical data as directed and initiating and maintaining the daily census, predicted discharges, working with bed board and nursing to facilitate patient flow
  • Booking porters through teletracking for patient and specimen transport
  • Arranging patient transport when required for discharge or transfer to another facility
  • Responding to questions and requests from patients and families and directing them to the appropriate persons and resources
  • Preparing and closing patients’ charts according to administrative policy and unit requirements
  • Demonstrate QCH values: accountability, innovation and respect

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 education
  • Successful completion of/certification in medical terminology from a recognized educational institution
  • 1 year related experience
  • 6 months clerical/data entry experience (or enrolled in a degree/diploma program)
  • Strong information technology/systems skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Effective coping skills and the ability to perform multiple demands while working in a fast-paced dynamic work environment
  • Work under minimal supervision, work well within a team and be customer focused
