Job Description

RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position summary
The incumbent will work as part of the Biostatistics Consulting Unit (BCU), which operates within the Centre for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE). They will operate under the direct supervision of the BCU Associate Director to provide statistical consultation to RI-MUHC researchers as well as external clients. They will actively contribute to the unit's development and take responsibility for clinical research projects according to the standard operating procedures and regulatory guidelines.

General Duties

  • Serve as a biostatistician, leading the statistical design, grant preparations, statistical analysis, statistical reporting, and dissemination of results of diverse projects.
  • Collaborate with clients and BCU staff to ensure quality control and adherence to timelines.
  • Develop and write Statistical Analysis Plans (SAP) for grants, protocols, and research publications.
  • Develop and write relevant results sections based on Statistical Analyses for research publications and presentations.
  • Conduct statistical analysis for ongoing BCU projects using appropriate software and methods.
  • Implement FDA and Health Canada regulations as needed.
  • Serve as a biostatistitian/senior biostatistician/Data and Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB) member on trials.
  • Collaborate with project managers, research coordinators, and data managers who may be involved in the context of different projects.
  • Supervise and mentor junior research staff and fellows (non-biostatisticians) to analyze data.
  • Supervise junior biostatisticians and programmers at BCU.
  • Assist RI-MUHC residents and trainees through knowledge transfer activities.
  • Participate in activities to increase the visibility of BCU at RI-MUHC.

Education / Experience

Education: Master's Degree
Field of Study: Biostatistics
Other education considered an asset for this position:
Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in statistical design and analysis in applied clinical research.

  • 2-3 years of data management experience.
  • Clinical health research experience within a CRO/Pharmaceutical company/Consulting company is preferable.
  • 3 years of analytical consulting experience.
  • Experience working with trainees and clinicians in applied statistics is an asset.

Required Skills

  • Proficient in statistical software (R, SAS, STATA, or similar),
  • Experience with large-scale administrative and insurance databases,
  • Knowledge about machine learning methods and AI tools,
  • Proficiency with clinical trials, FDA/Health Canada submission templates,
  • Excellent prioritization, time management, communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills,
  • Proven record of scientific communications,
  • French and English, spoken and written,
  • Attention to detail and accuracy ,
  • Good analytical and logic skills,
  • Problem assessment and problem-solving abilities.

Additional information

Status : Full-Time (35-hour workweek)
Pay Scale: $69,851.60 - $129,729.60 Commensurate with education & work experience.

Work Shift: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm
Work Site: Montreal General Hospital, 1650 Cedar Ave.
