Description
Bio-medical Engineering within the Schulich School of Engineering invites applications for a Lab Technician. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately6 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
The Biomedical Engineering Technician reports to the Principal Investigator, works closely with lab members, and is responsible for providing support to the lab's research projects. The normal hours of work are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Overtime may be required on occasion.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Produce reports of tests performed. Candidate will deliver effective presentations reporting to the academic supervisor and collaborators.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, manage scheduling of devices.
- Maintain databases of lab results.
- Perform a variety of tissue-based assays, including collagen assays and ELISA.
- Organize external testing, micro-CT at the McCaig Institute, microscopy at the Herzog Lab.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Recent Graduate of a Master' Degree in Biomedical Engineering.
- Minimum of 1 year of research experience (cumulative experience in different labs acceptable).
- Experience working with whole tissues, homogenization, ELISA, cell culture, hydroxyproline assays, other immunohistology assays desired.
- Experience working in a Class II lab.
