About The Pen Centre
The Pen Centre was built in 1957 as the Niagara Peninsula Centre, a single-level, outside strip mall. It has over one million square feet of floor space and features over 180 stores, a major department store, a supermarket, Landmark Cinemas and much more.
VP Protection as a company does not mandate vaccines, but our large mall contracts mandate this policy. Proof of vaccination maybe requested as part of the hiring requirement.
Mandatory pre-requisite
- 1+ years of security experience in a mall setting.
- G drivers license (parking patrols are conducted with company vehicle).
- Valid security guard license issued by the Ontario Ministry of Community and Correctional Services.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certificate.
- Available to work a permanent rotational schedule - days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
Job qualifications
- Experience with CCTV monitoring system.
- Comprehensive knowledge of common security policies and various related rules and regulations.
- Experience with access control systems and alarm monitoring procedures.
- Experience with report writing and note taking skills.
- 1+ years in a customer service role.
- Proven conflict resolution, problem solving, decision making, situational assessment and communication skills.
- Must be able to walk, run, stand for extended periods of time, in addition to climbing stairs.
- Knowledge of radio usage (10-codes and etiquette)
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as an exemplar of security by understanding the procedures and have proven excellent work ethics.
- Assist security team in ensuring the safety and security of people, valuable materials, and classified documents pertaining to the premises.
- Access control and CCTV monitoring
- Regularly Patrolling indoors and outdoors.
- Communicate with on site tenants in person, via telephone and/or email when required.
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks as directed by the site supervisor.
- Act as first responder in case of emergency, first aid or any other intervention.
- Conduct regular inspections of the serviceability of firefighting and other site equipment.
- Keep an open line of communication and availability with the Operations teams and responding to site emails in a timely manner.
We are currently looking for guards in the St Catherine's Ontario area.

This system gives the customer the ability to ensure no area has gone unpatrolled for a period that is longer than they specify. The system assures that VP Protection customers have no single patrol point overlooked. If the guard does not patrol a targeted point the system instantly sends out an alert to our mobile supervisor who responds immediately. This alert can also be sent to other supervisory positions allowing for redundancy to ensure that the critical area is patrolled promptly. VP Protection feels that this system is another way that we distinguish ourselves from our competitors. With value added services that our clients can benefit from immediately.
