Under the supervision of the Project Director, the incumbent will provide environmental leadership to the team dedicated to the extension of Montreal's blue line. This person will be responsible for the environmental compliance of the project and will supervise the Mobilité Bleu Horizon environmental team and support the various project construction teams. This person will work closely with other support teams, the client, and government authorities.

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate with pre-construction teams to produce environmental content for qualifications and proposals for lots submitted by the consortium
  • Manage a team of coordinators and environmental advisors
  • Support project teams in managing major and complex environmental issues and incidents
  • Contribute to obtaining environmental permits and authorizations and collaborate with the client when required
  • Ensure the proper implementation of the environmental management system (EMS) based on the ISO 14001 standard
  • Ensures that deliverables are completed on time and within budget
  • Prevents and identifies potential risks and issues with project management
  • Develops and implements solutions to address issues encountered
  • Submits and follows up on environmental permit and authorization applications when required
  • Provides advisory support to construction teams and project management
  • Ensures the implementation of an environmental training plan and participates in awareness and communication activities
  • Manages environmental non-compliance and notices of violation
  • Collaborates in the implementation of the audit program
  • Responsible for raising awareness among construction teams and project management regarding environmental issues and requirements

This role could be for you if you have

  • Hold a university degree in environmental science, biology, geotechnical engineering, or a similar field;
  • Have at least 15 years of experience in the environmental field;
  • Have significant experience in team management;
  • Experience in construction and soil management.
  • Have a good understanding of the environmental issues and impacts facing the construction industry, particularly civil and infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal environmental regulations.
  • Knowledge of Envision certification is an asset.
