About the role

Role

Reporting to the Deputy Minister, the Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM), Economics and Fiscal Policy will provide strategic and business advice to support legislation, policy development, strategic planning, and decision-making relating to the government’s budget and fiscal planning program and ministry business plan goals and operations. As ADM you will oversee the development of tax and fiscal policy options, economic analysis and revenue forecasts, demographic projections, as well as government workforce reporting and analytics to inform decisions pertaining to government fiscal choices. You will advise the Minister of Treasury Board and Finance and Treasury Board on legislation, policies, strategies, and complex issues relating to the province’s budget and fiscal plan. You are also accountable for the development of Alberta’s position on federal-provincial relations and have responsibility for the Office of Statistics and Information, the provincial legislated authority for Alberta’s Official Statistics. Your systems focus, political acumen, and technical foundation will be critical as you advise senior government officials on complex issues. You will play a key role contributing to Alberta’s current and future prosperity through you strategic thinking, economic leadership, and management expertise.

Qualifications

Your background includes extensive related executive leadership experience with advanced experience formulating policies, managing complex issues, and directing diverse programs within government or quasi-government environment. You have broad knowledge of Government strategic business plan goals and policy directions, particularly as they relate to the Ministry mandate. Your background includes applied knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas: accounting, economics, taxation policy, financial and statistical principles, budgeting, forecasting, fiscal planning or capital markets. You also possess an understanding of government decision structures and decision making.

You are also a relationship builder, known for your well-developed political acumen, consultation, advisory, negotiation, influence, and conflict resolution skills. You are also a highly skilled communicator and have deep stakeholder relationships management expertise. This role demands strong leadership and relationship management skills with proven success providing strategic and policy advice at the executive level. Related post-secondary education is required.

Salary

$6,403.39 - $8,403.71 bi-weekly ($167,128 - $219,336 annually)
