About the role

The Opportunity JOB DESCRIPTION Are you passionate about Engineering in an excellent mining facility? We are currently looking for an Engineer to join our Albian Short-Range Mine Engineering team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to display your proficiency by supporting the development, optimization, communication and execution of integrated mine plans. The successful candidate will collaborate with mine operations, mine maintenance, process engineering, and technical groups to implement mine execution strategies.

  • Job location: Albian Oil Sands - Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Company sponsored fly-in/fly-out and camp facilities with flights from Calgary or Edmonton
  • Shift schedule: Modified 7 days on, 7 days off - 11.5 hours/shift
  • Safety sensitive position: Yes

Key Accountabilities

  • Create daily mine plans to guide the execution for ore production, waste mining, and construction of dyke and dump structures
  • Development and optimization of two-week mine plans to support the safe, reliable and cost-effective operation of Albian oil sands
  • Communicate mine plans and strategies to align operations and technical teams
  • Provide mine project support including plans for haul roads, dewatering, aggregate sourcing
  • Design shovel mining surfaces for optimal execution based on geological models
  • Provide support to mine operations through mine field tours and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure optimized mine planning strategies
  • Monitor mining operations and provide continuous feedback to ensure plan adherence
  • Review and report on key mine performance metrics
  • Increase the net present value of the Albian asset through optimization of the integrated mine plan and operating cost and capital cost reductions

What You Bring To The Role

  • Degree in Mining or Civil Engineering
  • Registered (or eligible to register) with APEGA as a P.Eng. or EIT
  • 2+ years of experience in oil sands mining
  • Skill with mine planning software (Vulcan, Deswik, CAD software)
  • Class 5 driver’s license with no known driving limitations
