Electronics Teacher at Sutherland Secondary School Start Date: July 1, 2025 End Date: January 27, 2026 FTE: 0.286 (Part time) Schedule: Daily in the afternoons for Semester 1 (Period 4) NATURE OF THE ASSIGNMENT Sutherland Secondary is situated on the unceded and traditional territory of the Coast Salish people, specifically the Skwxwú7mesh Nation and səlilwəta ɬ Nations. At Sutherland we strive to develop students ’ skills, intellect and personal growth in a supportive, respectful learning environment, and to prepare students to become responsible citizens.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work as part of a collaborative team within our Industrial Education department. This assignment consists of Electronics 9-12.

Necessary Qualifications

• A Bachelor of Education Degree (Secondary), specialising in Electronics. .
• Successful experience teaching Electronics at the Secondary level.

• Practical knowledge of district initiatives in reading so that reading skills and strategies can be taught explicitly across the curriculum to insure reading success.
• Strategies to identify learning difficulties early, understand obstacles to learning, and implement effective intervention to maximize academic success.
• Knowledge and understanding of the application of relevant computer technologies to teaching and learning.
• Excellent written and oral communication.
• Evidence of personal initiative and strong work ethic.
• Demonstrated successful and creative classroom experience.
• Demonstrated ability to demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to the needs and demands of the profession.

Conditions Of Employment

• Possession of a BC Teaching Certificate
• Membership in the BC Teacher Regulation Branch.
